Committed Usage Discounts (Commits)
Committed Usage Discounts (Commits)
What is a Committed Usage Discount?
A Committed Usage Discount (Commit) is a pre-purchased volume of DVUs for a billing cycle. In exchange for committing to a minimum volume upfront, you receive a lower per-DVU price for that period.
Commits are not usage caps. If your usage exceeds your committed volume, the additional usage is billed at your committed price, not a higher rate. There is no penalty for exceeding a commit.
Commits are not packages
Commits are pre-purchased volumes for the purpose of volume discounting. They do not limit or restrict usage. Datastreamer operates as pay-as-you-go, and commits are a way to reduce the per-DVU cost based on expected volumes.
Data Streams Commits
For Data Streams, commits are purchased as a pool of DVUs that applies across all sources in your account. You do not need a separate commit for each platform or provider.
For example, a single commit covers DVU usage from Facebook, Twitter/X, Reddit, and any other source used in your Data Streams. This does not include enrichment DVUs added to those streams.
The Data Stream model differs from the Direct Integrations model, where commits are per data source.
Commit volumes and pricing tiers are available on request. Contact our team or use the Cost Estimation Calculator in Portal to find the right level for your usage.
Direct Integrations Commits
For Direct Integrations, commits are per data source. A separate commit is required for each provider, enrichment, or data source you want to discount.
For example, a Socialgist commit and a Brightdata commit are purchased independently. Usage from one does not count toward the other.
Are Commits Required?
Commits are not required in most cases. Datastreamer operates on a pay-as-you-go model and usage can accrue without any commit in place.
However, some components, particularly those from third-party partners, have minimum volume requirements. Where a minimum applies, it is reflected as a minimum Commit. These minimums are documented on the relevant component pages and reflected in your usage agreement.
Bundles
Some components are available as part of a bundle. A bundle commit covers DVU usage across all components in that bundle, so you do not need separate commits for each component. See Component Bundles for details.
Changing Commit Levels
Commit changes take effect at the start of a new billing cycle. Changes must be submitted before the cutoff date specified in your usage agreement. Contact your account manager to adjust commit levels.
